Last Year, the Lincoln Continental was merely a concept shown off at the New York Auto Show and is said to likely compete with BMW 5-Series and Audi A6. Now, the full-size sedan has a production version.
Unveiled during the North American International Auto Show this week, the 2017 Lincoln Continental is a modern version of the Continental luxury car that was discontinued after 2002. Now, the sedan comes with all new amenities and technologies that should be a competition for newer cars of today.
The new Continental did not deviate much from its concept model back in the New York Auto Show in March 2015. The sedan still has the wraparound taillight design and the glass sunroof that offers a panoramic view.
The vehicle carries a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to run smoothly and respond better but with great power.
The Continental also offers the feature called the Lincoln Drive Control which gives the driver three handling settings — comfort, normal, and sport.
One of the highlights of the all new Lincoln is found in its interior, with the Perfect Position Seats. The seat design takes inspiration from seats of private jets and top-of-the-line office furniture, the press release stated. The seating can be adjusted in 30 different ways.
Also described in the release, the inside of the Continental allows passengers to "rejuvenate." The seats offer features like heat and cooling, massage, and thigh support.
There will be three themes for Continental: the Chalet, Thoroughbred and Rhapsody, a Continental exclusive.
Pricing details for the 2017 Lincoln Continental have not been announced, but according to Fox News, the luxury car is likely to be priced at $50,000.
Production of the vehicles will be done at Flat Rock Assembly Plant located in Michigan. The 2017 Lincoln Continental is expected to arrive in dealerships this fall.
