After revealing at the Geneva Motor Show back in March that the all-new 2016 Ford Focus RS will have 315 horsepower, Ford now claims that it will feature 350 horsepower instead as well as a new stall technology.
Early this week, a new press release from the American car maker said that the extraordinary2.3-liter EcoBoost engine provide 350 horsepower at 6,000 rpm on way to 6,800-rpm redline. It will also come with a new feature called the stall recovery, which no longer requires the drivers to restart the engine manually or place the gear selector to the neutral mode after the vehicle has stalled.
"We knew we wanted to put start-stop technology on the RS," Ford Performance Europe engineering and vehicle manager Tyrone Johnson, engineering and vehicle manager stated. "So we said, 'What if we went one step further, and controlled for engine stall at launch using the same technology?' Well, that's exactly what we did and it's just as fast as our start-stop technology."
Because of the newest Stop-Start Technology, drivers of the 2016 Ford Focus RS can easily stop and go at stop lights since the vehicle can allow them to stay in gear and just depress the clutch after the car is stopped. This will give a signal to the heavy starter motor to crank the engine to be able to run the car again smoothly.
The car maker also claimed that the output that comes from the latest Ford Focus RS engine is reached because of its newest low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger as well as a bigger compressor wheel that comes with added airflow and brand-new power that comes from the entire rev range.
The third-generation 2016 Ford Focus RS comes after the best-selling Focus RS model that was first released in 2002 and followed by a second edition in 2009. The American car maker will start with the 2016 Ford Focus RS with 2.3-liter EcoBoost before the end of the year.
