Oscars 2016 winner predictions: Who and what will win in the Oscars?

 The Oscars Official

Amid the controversies involving the 88th Academy Awards, there's no stopping of the predictions on who among the actors and which among the films will bag the Oscars.

According to The Guardian, "The Revenant" will take the lead in the upcoming event due to its performance in the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards. The movie won Best Picture (Drama) and Leonardo DiCaprio bagged the Best Actor (drama) award.

The news outlet predicted that it's likely DiCaprio's success will continue on in the Oscars. Other reports also speculated that the 41-year-old actor will be the winner for Best Actor this year. Then again, winners of the Golden Globes are not guaranteed to be the same winners in the Academy Awards.

For other movies, "Bridge of Spies," "Carol" and "Mad Max: Fury Road" are predicted to be the ones that will get several nominations in the Oscars, next to "The Revenant."

Meanwhile, from the Daily Californian prediction on the Best Picture winner, it was mentioned that "The Revenant" could win and "Mad Max: Fury Road" should win, but it is believed that in the end, the award will go to "The Big Short."

For Best Director, Alejandro González Iñárritu (The Revenant) could win the title while "Fury Road's" George Miller reportedly should be the one to take home the award. The prediction stated that Miller will win.

Brie Larson of "The Room" is also eyed to be the winner for Best Actress (Drama) and she could fight with "Brooklyn's" Saoirse Ronan. Cate Blanchett (Carol) is not seen as a likely winner.

Consequences of Sound also reported that "Inside Out" will and should win Best Animated Feature Film this year.

All these predictions are merely based on speculations. Fans will just have to watch the event to know if their favorite films and actors get to win an award.

Catch the Oscars on Feb. 28, televised from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood starting at 8:30 p.m. EST.
