£12,000 up for grabs for best Christian outreach idea

If you've got a great idea for reaching vulnerable people and transforming lives, then Premier Christian Media want to hear from you.

They have teamed up with the Christian Initiative Trust to launch the Mustard Seed Awards and are offering £12,000 for the best idea.

There will also be silver and bronze prizes giving £10,000 and £8,000 respectively to the most promising runner-up projects.

Judges are looking for originality and innovation in projects that have the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of the people they serve.

Projects will also be judged according to how much they engage Christians in addressing the challenges in their local communities in new ways.

Peter Kerridge, chief executive of Premier Christian Media said, “These awards echo the very ethos of what Premier Christian Media is all about – to be a beacon of support and encouragement to Christians across the UK.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for a life changing idea to be recognised, and to have the talent behind that idea showcased. And even more exciting, these extraordinary people will have the opportunity of a lifetime to have their idea brought into being.”

The deadline for applications in 28 September and the awards will be held in London in the autumn.

Siân Edwards, CIT Director, said, “We are looking for exceptional people who understand the power that Christians can have in effecting real change, in making things happen and in finding innovative solutions to the problems of the 21st century.

"We believe that great things can come from small beginnings and that this sort of money can achieve a great deal in the hands of ambitious and determined people. We want to celebrate the ingenuity and passion that Christians have for making the world a better place.”

Individual Christians, churches and Christian organisations of all denominations are eligible to apply and applications are particularly encouraged from black, minority or ethnic communities.

Applications for the Mustard Seed Awards must be made via an application form by 28 September 2012. For more information log on to www.premier.org.uk/mustardseed
