'Vikings' season 4 spoilers: Rollo betray Ragnar again?

Brother versus brother when Vikings return for season 4 History HD

It has been a while since fans saw the epic finale of History's "Vikings" season 3, but they are still wondering about the implications of Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) fake death. Series showrunner Michael Hirst previously revealed that "Vikings" season 4 will have a relatively significant time jump when it returns in 2016, but recent spoilers offer minor teasers so that fans know what to look forward to next season.

According to spoilers, Ragnar and his brother Rollo (Clive Standen) could have a falling off because of their conflicting interests.

By the end of season 3, Rollo was contemplating on accepting the offer from the French Emperor Charles (Lothaire Bluteau) wherein he will be given lands and titles, as well as have the emperor's own daughter's hand in marriage. This is in conflict with Ragnar's objectives in Paris, which is to conquer the city.

But while Ragnar is still weak from the wounds that he acquired at the end of the previous season, Hirst told Variety that no one should underestimate what Ragnar can do even if he is in the middle of fighting for his life. However, the series showrunner also admitted that the siblings' conflict will be nothing like what they have encountered before.

"But the conflict now is at a much higher level, but it has different sorts of ramifications too," Hirst said.

But while the third season of "Vikings" lost two major characters when Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig) and Athelstan (George Blagden) met their demise, three new characters will replace them next season.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Finnish actors Peter Franzen and Jasper Paakkonen will join the show. Franzen will portray the role of Scandinavian warrior King Harald Finehair, who could be a threat to Ragnar. On the other hand, Paakonen will portray the role of Finehair's younger brother, Halfdan the Black. Meanwhile, actress Dianne Doan will portray the role of Yidu, the only Chinese character in the series.

History has yet to reveal the exact air date of "Vikings" season 4.
