The 2015 San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone but there are still many hints coming out regarding "Vikings" season 4. One speculation that has come up based on these hints is that Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) may step up to succeed as Viking leader after the inevitable death of his father Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel).

During the Comic-Con panel, Fimmel explained that Ragnar's close brush with death during the end of season 3 has intrigued him about death and the after life, comparing this curiosity to how the Norse god Odin hung himself just to understand what death feels like.

Series creator Michael Hirst also stated that "Vikings" is not a show about Ragnar Lothbrok but about Vikings in general. He went on to state that eventually, the story would focus on Ragnar's children and the legacy they left behind. The most prominent of Ragnar's children on the show thus far is none other than his first-born, Bjorn.

Bjorn is set to go on his own adventurers and season 4 may plant the seeds for his new journey.

"He decides to figure out his life and go out to the woods," explained Ludwig in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "And while he's there, this bear starts stalking him."

Fighting a bear won't be the only thing to prove his significance and power. As reported by Enstarz, if Ragnar does indeed pass away, then his responsibilities may be given to Bjorn.

"This is the season where he's finally come into his own and now it's about Bjorn and learning from his father, but now there's this camaraderie between the two. You really start to see him step up and start running things when his father initially can't," said Ludwig during the Comic-Con panel. "It's a really exciting time for him and also very nerve-racking."

"Vikings" season 4 is set to premiere in spring 2016.
