"Tyrant" season 2 ended in such a way that its viewers undoubtedly want to find out more, apart from the killing of the antagonist by his own daughter-in-law. At the moment, the question stands, will the show be renewed or cancelled?

The viewership of FX channel's "Tyrant" from season 1 to season 2 could dictate the future of the TV show. According to  the figures from Nielsen TV Ratings as reported by Variety, the premiere episode of season 2 attracted just 1.06 million viewers, a far cry from the more than 2.1 million people who tuned in for the show' season 1 premiere. The consistent ratings of the first season reportedly peaked at 1.55 million viewers per episode but it dropped dramatically, with season 2 said to have been received fairly well but not as producers might have wanted it, averaging only about 1.06 million viewers per episode.

For many viewers and critics alike, the lumbering numbers is caused by the way the story of the "Tyrant" is laid out and how it deals with its season endings. Variety puts the future of the program on the engagement of Barry to his beloved nation in the next installment, if ever there will be one. The show according to the same report is interesting and provocative in its attempt to portray the unsure nature of the Middle East through a fictional country. However, it failed to build up a protagonist that knows exactly what he needs and wants for his country and why.

Even with the prospect of "Tyrant" not being renewed for season 3, there is somehow hope for the show to move forward. Bustle is pitching an idea that the third season can be continued by Netflix or even Hulu. But this is just a possibility. For the meantime, the waiting for an announcement continues.
