Fans already have gotten wind of the impending death of Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) from the hit AMC post-apocalyptic series "The Walking Dead." But, they should not blame the actor for his exit, as Riggs revealed that it was not his choice to depart from the show that had seen him grow from a young child.

Many fans were shocked upon finding out that Carl, one of the major cast of the show, is likely going to die come February. Even before it was confirmed, many speculated that he would be axed off the "The Walking Dead," citing his release of his song "Hold On" as well as his new movie, which he heavily teased with a new hairstyle on social media.

However, Riggs, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, said that it was not his decision to leave the most watched cable show every Sunday. "It was all story related. It made sense story-wise for it to happen for Rick and Michonne and all the other characters," he said, meaning rumors that he would be leaving the show to attend school, as well as those mentioned, were debunked.

That said, Riggs revealed that he was also shocked to find out that Carl is going to get killed off the show. He went on to tease that there would be more to come for Carl in "The Walking Dead" season 8 episode 9, which will air in February 2018.

In an interview with Comicbook, Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, father of Carl, said that Rick's son's death would pave the way for the team to once again be solid. "I think there will be a lot time spent between those characters trying to work out how they move on," he divulged.

The news was inevitable though, as fans had already predicted that Carl was going to die. In a poll conducted by TVLine, more than 31 percent believed that he will be the next character to depart the show.
