'Teen Wolf' season 5B premiere: 2 new villain; Dylan O'Brien may leave after 2 seasons

Fans waiting for "Teen Wolf" season 5B are already aware of one new villain set to appear when the series returns. As previewed in a previous report, the following second half of season 5 will introduce the Beast, who is described as an ancient Hellhound and is fact one of the most ancient of werewolves.

However, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the Beast is just one of two new villains coming in season 5B. Executive Producer Jeff Davis reveals that the second half of the season will also bring about Theo's (Cody Christian) capability of transforming into a coyote.

According to Davis, this will make Theo both "very dangerous" as well as a "talented chimera." It is likely this new capability will make Theo even more of a threat against Scott (Tyler Posey) and Stiles (Dylan O'Brien), possibly leading to the action sequences seen in the recently released teaser trailer.

Speaking of actor Dylan O'Brien, Jeff Davis confirmed in a recent interview with Movie Pilot that he may let O'Brien go. Davis confirmed that "Teen Wolf" has been green lit for an additional 2 season deal, ensuring season 6 and 7 will eventually release. However, he stated that afterward he might change things up and switch out O'Brien.

"After the 2 Season deal if it happens, I would really like someone else in the lead with Tyler Posey, because I think I have to let Stiles go after that, maybe he stays, maybe not," Davis explained. "Even as a recurring character would be cool."

Having O'Brien remain as a recurring character but no longer as the second lead following Tyler Posey may significantly change the series. However, this sort of drastic cast change has been done before. Most recently "The Vampire Diaries" has been made to continue forward without lead actress Nina Dobrev.

"Teen Wolf" season 5B will premiere this Jan. 5, 2016.
