Pope Francis, Billy Graham, Oprah Winfrey and the Queen are among the top 40 most admired people in the world, according to a new survey.

Bill Gates topped the men's poll, as he has done since its origin in 2014, followed by Barack Obama, Xi Jinping, Jackie Chan and Stephen Hawking.

Queen Elizabeth II comes in as the second most admired woman in the world, behind Angelina Jolie, followed by Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama.

Vladimir Putin's increase in popularity has pushed Pope Francis out of the men's top ten most admired.

Donald Trump, the only man left standing in the Republican presidential candidacy race, also made the list, coming in at 18, beating Bernie Sanders, who made it in at 20.

In the UK, Pope Francis ranked at number 11, one place ahead of Jeremy Corbyn, while Queen Elizabeth topped the chart, ahead of Malala Yousafzai.

The poll was collated from answers given by panellists across 30 countries to the question: "Thinking about people alive in the world today, which [man or woman] do you most admire?"
