'Overwatch' Halloween Terror 2017 update: New twist on Junkenstein's Revenge, new skins, and more

Blizzard has made it a tradition to celebrate all holidays with an event for its "Overwatch" players, and Halloween is no exception. It launched the Junkenstein's revenge last year, which is now back on all platforms as part of the vast Halloween Terror 2017 event, complete with some awesome new skins and items for everyone's characters.

Junkenstein's revenge, according to Gears of Biz, can now be played in two ways. First, like in last year's version, players get to choose one of the four heroes, team up with three more players, and hold the door against a horde of AI-controlled robot enemies while minibosses appear to join in on the party.

The second option offers a new endless mode that allows players to see how many waves their team get through. In this version, the quartet of heroes faces an unending tide of enemies. There will be an accompanying leaderboard to track everyone's progress and allow them to compete for the top spot.

The holiday promo originally featured only four selectable heroes (McCree, Hanzo, Ana, and Soldier 76), but players can now choose from an expanded pool of characters in the new endless Night version. The roster includes Ana, Genji, Hanzo, McCree, Soldier: 76, Torbjorn, Widowmaker, and Zenyatta.

As with the return of the "Summer Games" event, the Halloween skins from last year, including favorites such as Witch Mercy, Dr. Junkenstein Junkrat, and Junkenstein's Monster Roadhog, will be available once again. There will also be several new ones, like Legendary skins for Ana, McCree, Zenyatta, and Symmetra. These can be obtained from loot boxes in-game or purchased through the in-game store.

In addition to skins, Blizzard has also added new highlight intros, emotes, and sprays. It also released updated versions of the Hollywood and Eichenwalde maps to match the event.

The "Overwatch" Halloween Terror 2017 event is now underway on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It runs until November 2 on all platforms.
