'Orange Is the New Black' season 5 spoilers, news: Officer Bennett returns to Litchfield?

 Netflix

A fan-favorite character is rumored to make a return in "Orange Is the New Black" season 5.

Daya's (Dascha Polanco) baby daddy Officer John Bennett was last seen abandoning the crib given by Cesar (Berto Colon) along the highway in the second episode of season 3, and nothing was heard from him in season 4. But it seems like the correction officer will return to Litchfield Penitentiary based on the Instagram post of Matt McGorry.

The actor shared a selfie of himself with "Orange Is the New Black" co-star Laverne Cox taken while hiking in Los Angeles. While the post did not mention if the photo was taken on the set of the Netflix Original series, several fans hoped that the kind-hearted police officer will be reunited with Daya and their daughter Armaria especially after Daya was involved in a big prison standoff at the end of season 4.

Will Bennett return to help Daya deal with the repercussion of her actions?

However, iDigitalTimes pointed out that the set locations of "Orange Is the New Black" were seen in New York and Connecticut. This could mean that McGorry and Laverne's hiking trip has nothing to do with the show.

Polanco was also unsure if her character and Bennett will be reunited in the future, based on her interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I would love to see that, but you have to be realistic," the actress said. "He walked out of her life and her main priority right now is figuring out how she can take care of her child."

McGorry is also working in "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 as law student Asher Millstone.

Reps from McGorry and the show are expected to make a statement about the rumored appearance of Bennett when Netflix drops the latest episodes of "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 sometime in 2017.
