'No Man's Sky' DLC update: Hello Games breaks silence, releases new Foundation update

Developer Hello Games has been silent with the feedback on its new game, "No Man's Sky." However, it seems the developer was busy cooking up a major update for the game, as the new patch Foundation Update goes live for the title.

Hello Games has already put up the patch notes for the new major update, and lists major improvements and tweaks for "No Man's Sky."

One significant improvement for "No Man's Sky" is its expanded game modes. Now, aside from the Normal mode — the original gameplay when the title was launched — "No Man's Sky" now has a Creative mode with never-ending exploration as it supposedly "allows players to explore the universe without limits, and build a huge base." There is also a new Survival mode, with more challenges and lengthy gameplay for hardcore fans.

Other improvements include introduction of home bases which players can use for shelter, storage, and research; interaction between players via messages on communications terminals; and improvements on interface and design, like a new quick menu for player inventory. For those who are into the game for hours, "No Man's Sky" also now has unlimited save points, and players can add the feature anywhere in the in-game universe.

The new update from Hello Games is the first official announcement from the developer after the feedback on the game's launch. Although previously hailed as one of the most-awaited games in recent years, the "No Man's Sky" launch was marred with negative feedback from players, and some have even threatened legal action against Hello Games for alleged false advertising. Supposedly, some of the promised features for the game were not available when it released, and a Day One patch has not been launched by the developer to address the issue.

With the Foundation Update already live, it is expected that Hello Games will add more succeeding patches to continue polishing the title.
