Fans are a few days away from the premiere of "Longmire" season 5 on Netflix, and the trailer for the new season does a good job at teasing what the new installment will be all about.

Walt (Robert Taylor) has definitely seen better days, looking at his condition in the new season. Last year, fans watched an intruder interrupt the sheriff's sweet time with her partner, Sue (Ally Walker).

It turns out that the trespasser left Walt for dead by shooting him while Sue appears to have left the attack unscathed. In the "Longmire" season 5 trailer, she howled as she tried to wake up an unconscious and bloody Walt.

While Walt does survive the attack, he suffers some serious repercussions. He looked like he is not himself most of the time, and he often looks like he is at a complete loss. His colleagues are starting to worry about him.

But it is not exactly the physical pain that gets to Walt in "Longmire" season 5 but the betrayal of two of the people he always expected to be by his side.

Her daughter, Cady (Cassidy Freeman), has agreed to work with Jacob Nighthorse (A Martinez), while Walt learns of the lies Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips) has been feeding him.

Cady has accepted Nighthorse's job offer for her, which is to help the Cheyenne natives in court. Walt is not loving the idea of his daughter working with the man that murdered his wife.

Henry, on the other hand, will not be happy being confronted by his good friend, leading to an intense argument, as previewed in the trailer.

But not everything happening in Walt's life is bad. The trailer for the new season also hints of romance between him and Vic (Katee Sackhoff).

The pair was always believed to couple up, and it appears that the new season will make that happen, if not set the stage for their romance. This is evident when Vic felt the urge to make sure Walt knows that she is not dating Eamonn (Josh Cooke).

"Longmire" season 5 will be available for streaming on Netflix starting Sept. 23.
