LG G4 specs: 16-megapixel rear shooter

LG's forthcoming flagship smartphone, the LG G4, will sport a 16-megapixel back camera.

The rumor was sparked by a code spotted in Techmaniacs that leaked a 16-megapixel rear camera, which is a big improvement from the 13 megapixels in the LG G3. Although this is not an entirely shocking bit of news since some smartphones already sport cams with the same capacity, it would greatly help in shaping the LG G4.

If rumors prove to be true, then the LG G4 will be at par with the Samsung Galaxy S5. However, this particular feature may be inferior to another rumored device, the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is said to have a 20-megapixel rear shooter. Thus, LG may need a lot of catching up to do.

Meanwhile, the alleged LG G4 was spotted in the benchmark website GeekBench revealing some of its other alleged specs and features. The handset has the model number F510L.

The listing showed that the smartphone will be powered by the new Snapdragon 810 SoC from Qualcomm. However, the chipset was clocked at 1.55 GHz, which is slightly lower than the reported 1.96 GHz speed of the processor. Furthermore, the handset will run with the latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS, although there is a chance that Google will release a better and more stable version of the operating system.

Unfortunately, not a lot of details were revealed in the specs sheet. Moreover, nothing is final until LG Electronics announces the official details of the smartphone.

Nonetheless, an LG executive hinted that the company is experimenting on its high-end smartphones. This suggests that LG is hard at work with the LG G4.

"I don't think we are going to be able to sit back and expect people are just going to fawn over the G4, or whatever the name will be, just because they liked the G3. I don't think it works that way anymore. I don't think people are as loyal on the Android side as they are on the iOS side, so you really have to win every customer with your products," LG's Director of Corporate Communications Ken Hong told Trusted Reviews.
