Joanna Gaines reveals 'bigger plan' behind the end of HGTV's 'Fixer Upper'

With every ending comes another beginning. This is what "Fixer Upper" star Joanna Gaines believes after her highly popular HGTV show with husband Chip finally aired its last episode this April.

Joanna wrote on her blog that when they first announced the final season of "Fixer Upper" last September, April felt like a lifetime away. "But somehow it snuck up on us," she said. "Time is funny like that, the days sometimes seem long, but the weeks, months and even years fly past us when we least expect it."

Joanna added that she "really loved" the final season, especially since she and Chip undertook their first apartment renovation and even made a beautiful cottage for a widow who wanted to be closer to her sons. They also designed an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant home for a family in need.

The reality star, who is now pregnant with her fifth child, is thankful for everyone who helped make their show a success.

"We are grateful to all the families who joined in on this journey with us over the past five years - what an honor to be a part of their stories," she said.

The ending of "Fixer Upper" is bittersweet for Joanna, but she knows that bigger and brighter things are in store for the Gaines family.

"With our little ones getting bigger, we had this gut feeling that it was time to step back and focus on them and our businesses here in Waco, Texas," she said. "And although that's why we thought we decided to step away from the show, we now realize with this little one on the way that there was a bigger plan in place for us all along."

Chip and Joanna are the proud parents of Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7. Aside from "Fixer Upper," they also opened their own restaurant, Magnolia Table, and have even written a cookbook for release on April 24. They are also working on a design book.
