The season 3 finale of "Hannibal" is airing in the U.S. tonight and while it is still unclear whether the series will find a home in a new network after its cancellation by NBC earlier this year, the finale promises to be one episode that fans will never forget.

In the official synopsis for the finale episode titled "The Wrath of the Lamb," Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) utilizes Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) in an attempt to kill Francis Dolarhyde. Upon learning Will's plan, Bedelia Du Maurier expresses her concern, saying that Will's plan may not only put his life in danger but also cause harm to those around him. And as the end draws near, Will remains unfazed in his game with Hannibal, even if it means facing his darkest fears.

IGN shared more spoilers for season 3's final episode, which aired in Canada last Thursday. According to the website, the finale sees the return of a character thought to be dead. It turns out that the character is alive, but is not how he used to be.

The final moment is a scene between Hannibal and Will, and the latter does something heroic as he tries to end this long game that he has been playing with the killer. Bedelia will also be seen doing something gruesome in a post-credit scene. The episode reportedly retains a lot of elements from the "Red Dragon" book with some original twists along the way, leaving the series with a chance to tell Hannibal and Will's story again should there be a continuation.

After NBC cancelled "Hannibal," there was talk that the series could be picked up by Amazon because the streaming service already had the rights to stream the first three seasons of the show. But Amazon ultimately decided not to pick up the show as according to CarterMatt, the executives at the company wanted to focus on developing original material rather than renew cancelled shows.

The season 3 finale of "Hannibal" airs tonight, Aug. 29, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
