Grits' 'Ooh Ahh (My Life Be Like)' as popular as ever

Grits song “Ooh Ahh (My Life Be Like)” continues to find fans and solidify the duo as one of the most recognised voices, yet relatively underground groups in hip-hop.

As a digital single, “Ooh Ahh (My Life Be Like)” recently scanned over 500,000 downloads, adding their name to a small and select group of Christian artists who have achieved such sales success.

After being used as part of the theme song last year, “Ooh Ahh (My Life Be Like)” has been honoured again as the theme song for the second season of MTV’s hit show The Buried Life. The season, which premiered last week, features four guys who are attempting a series of adventures.

The song has a long list of film and TV credits since its release on Grits' 2002 release “The Art of Translation” and then again on the duo’s 2007 “The Greatest Grits” Greatest Hits double disc compilation.

“Ooh Ahh”’s inclusion in films such as The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Big Momma’s House 2, and on shows such as My Super Sweet Sixteen and The Buried Life have created an overwhelming trending question online of ‘who sings ‘My Life Be Like’? From this, YouTube has logged an unprecedented 37 million views of fan-generated videos for “Ooh Ahh.”

Grits, made up of rappers Coffee and Bonafide, have a long list of credits in their 15-year career, including a Billboard Video Award, 6 Dove Awards and 2 GRrammy nominations.

The duo has shared the stage with notables such as OutKast, Jay-Z, Ice Cube, DJ Shadow, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Monica. Several other of their songs have graced films as Something’s Gotta Give, Lockdown, and Road Dogz, and on shows such as Boston Public, MTV Cribs, The Real World, and Pimp My Ride.
