The Golden State Warriors just finished the NBA season on top of the basketball world winning their first ever championship after four decades of drought and one of the players who made it possible was 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala.

Although a lot of people wanted Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James to follow Los Angeles Lakers great Jerry West's footsteps and be Finals MVP despite not winning the championship, Iguodala was voted by seven out of 11 media members to secure the award.

The 31-year-old became the first ever Finals MVP to not start in every game for the championship team.

Igudoala winning the award also made the Warriors the second team to have the regular season MVP (Stephen Curry) and Finals MVP.

The first were the Los Angeles Lakers in 1980 when Magic Johnson won the Finals MVP award with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar being the regular season MVP.

Curry was the brightest spot offensively for Golden State during the Finals series but it was Iguodala who showed efficiency in six games against Cleveland.

Iguodala averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and four assists per outing in the series.

He did not start until Game 4 where he had a breakout performance scoring 22 points with eight rebounds.

In Game 6, Iguodala shined the brightest leading the team as he tied Curry with 25 points and also tallied five rebounds, five assists and two steals.

"My mind was working so many ways. Like, 'What's going to happen if you win? What's going to happen if you lose? How do you approach the game starting? Do you come out firing? Do you let it just come to you?" Iguodala said according to ESPN.

"For me, it was just playing my game. If you're feeling it, shoot it. If you feel like you can make a play for somebody else, make a play for somebody else," he added.
