Destiny 2 news: new DLC Rise of Iron will have its release September 20

 Bungie

Good news for fans of Bungie's Destiny franchise as the studio recently announced the release of its latest installment "Destiny: Rise of Iron."

According to the official Bungie site, the game will officially come out on September 20, 2016 and will feature a powerful enemy, the SIVA, a Golden Age breakthrough in self-assembling, self-replicating nanotechnology which makes the Fallen Devil Splicers an even bigger force to contend with.

On the flipside, the Guardians will get access to a host of new weapons and arsenal to help them uncover the source of the SIVA outbreak in order to curb the powerful threat.

The site also included a link to preorder the DLC to become the first to get the latest installment.

During the E3 2016 conference, Bungie Game director Chris Barrett shared that the latest DLC builds on something that is already familiar to players of the game, reported the Express UK.

"They've been playing the Iron Banner Tournament since the beta, and we wanted to dive deeper into that lore. We wanted to bring forward the character of Lord Saladin, really dive into his backstory and learn more about these weapons that players have gotten familiar with in the Iron Banner," he said.

He added that in developing the latest addition, the team wanted to give them fresh content like a new location, new weapons as well as introduce new characters in the form of new Iron Lords.

The game will also feature new Raid and Strikes, public events and a number of multiplayer contents. Also, it will feature the new Gjallarhorn.

For his part, community manager David Dague said that players will get to explore the new zone, players will need to recapture the plaguelands to enjoy the new quest.

He also clarified that there will be no difference between the Black and White variant of the Iron Gjallarhorn.
