According to observers, fans may still expect the sequel to the zombie survival game "Dead Island" to be released later this year as development of the title gets a jumpstart.

Fans worry that the upcoming sequel to the original zombie horror survival game "Dead Island" will be delayed once again since developer Yager Productions has left the project. However, publisher Deep Silver has revealed that a new developer, UK studio Sumo Digital, has taken over the reins of "Dead Island 2." Working with Sumo Digital, Deep Silver has said that "It just made perfect sense for us to move the project to them. We will reveal more details at a later stage, but for now I'd like to say that we are obviously super excited about the progress that we are making with them."

The "Dead Island 2" project waas announced as far back as the E3 2014 and was originally scheduled to be released in spring last year. Meanwhile, since a new developer has already taken over the project, observers say that "Dead Island 2" may still make it to its targeted late 2016 release.

Since it is believed that "Dead Island 2" will roll out later this year, some fans are expecting the zombie survival sequel to make an appearance at the E3 2016. While still unconfirmed, an announcement at the event is certainly possible, if Deep Silver really has plans of releasing the game in late 2016. In addition, the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo is one of the biggest events in the gaming industry, so an announcement at the event will have an impact on the game's release.

Meanwhile, as fans wait for its sequel, the new "Dead Island: The Definitive Edition" has just been released. The compendium for the PC version takes advantage of upgraded graphics and features, switching to a new engine and optimizing hardware in order to display 1080p at 60 fps and higher.
