'Boruto: Naruto the Movie' spin-off in the works?

"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" Toho

A follow-up effort to "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" remains a distinct possibility and is even a desired reality for at least one man.

None other than "Naruto" series creator himself, Masashi Kishimoto, has expressed interest in making another film involving the characters he has brought to life, although he apparently wants to do something a bit different this time around, according to the Latinos Post.

If another film is to be made, Kishimoto is reportedly interested in focusing more on the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. The dynamic between Naruto and Sasuke has been a crucial part of the franchise since its early days, and devoting a movie to it would seem to be an easy way to draw fans to the theaters.

Kishimoto is also reportedly interested in putting a little twist into the story-telling of the upcoming movie, and he plans to do this by using one of the franchise's most recognizable characters to provide some unique insight. According to Kishimoto, Jiraiya could fit into that storyteller role perfectly, and his unique perspective on Naruto and Sasuke's relationship could add a lot of potential to any upcoming movie.

Jiraiya being the narrator of the next film could also offer unique opportunities for the filmmakers to explore the generational gap between the ninjas of his time and those who came around during Naruto's era, according to Movie News Guide.

Aside from talking about the possibility of a follow-up to "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," Kishimoto also touched on the possibility that the series itself might not be over just yet. He is reportedly looking into developing a sci-fi version of "Naruto," although how that could turn out is anyone's guess.

The only thing Kishimoto said with complete certainty is that he will be taking some time away from the series and spending some much needed quality time with his family before diving back into any major projects.
