The back half of "Bones" season 11 will see who between Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) and Angela (Michaela Conlin) will receive Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth's (David Boreanaz) support when the going gets tough for the couple.

With Hodgins paralyzed from the waist down due to an explosion during the midseason finale, he will have to undergo a painful recuperation period. For someone as full of life as him, being confined in a wheelchair for a long time is a fate worse than death. Thyne told TV Guide back in December that the opening episodes of season 11B would be the toughest for his character. While at first, he was in denial, it would slowly sink in to Hodgins that he might never walk again.

This will be the phase wherein he will undergo the stages of grief. Normally cheerful before his accident, the new Hodgins will be angry and frustrated at the drop of a hat. Angela will never know when her husband would suddenly blow off some steam; that is why she will tend to walk on tiptoe around him. Depression will then set in and it will last for a long time. Feeling pity for himself will make Hodgins antisocial, even pushing away his old friends in the Jeffersonian.

Hodgins' plight will have a huge effect for those who worked with him and Angela for a long time. Executive producer Michael Peterson shared to Entertainment Weekly that almost all of them would not be able to stay neutral, especially when they see how Angela is suffering because of Hodgins' attitude. This will hold true for Brennan and Booth, two of the couple's closest friends.

"There will be times when people fall on different sides of the line. There are different allegiances that are going to happen," he shared.

Brennan will most likely side with Angela, as they are both women. Booth will go for Hodgins, empathizing with the latter's condition. For the detective, the other man's condition is something he will not want himself to be in. With Brennan and Booth championing different sides, will it cause a toll on their own relationship?

"Bones" season 11 will return on Thursday, April 14, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
