It was previously believed that the Apple Watch 2 would release in time for the holidays, but according to a previous report there are indications that the new device will instead see a March 2016 release. MacWorld reports that the Apple Watch 2 will be one of the devices lined up for Apple's Spring event.
It is further explained that Apple tends to follow a yearly routine. This is most obvious with the release of each new iPhone iteration. Every year for the past three years the latest iPhone launched in September. It is expected that this annual habit will translate with Apple's other devices such as the Watch 2.
Should this prove true then the Watch 2 will indeed be unveiled in March and may be launched either in the same month or in April. The latter would only occur if the company sees any of its other devices as potential in-house competitors in the market.
According to the report, the Apple Watch 2 will be unveiled alongside the highly anticipated iPad Air 3 and the iPhone 6c. However, if the Watch 2 is indeed pushed back, it is stated that it may be pushed as far back as June. This would let it launch coinciding with the MacBook Pro 2016.
It is also explained that Chinese company Quanta will be responsible for the manufacturing of the Watch 2. The company previously handled the first-generation Apple Watch and it is expected that they will also be responsible for the second-generation device as well.
The Apple Watch 2 is expected to have better battery life, several health monitors built into the device, its own camera for Face Time and less reliance on the iPhone. This would allow the Watch 2 to function primarily on its own without the need of an iPhone to read or alter information. It is also expected to have more than three designs this time around.
