If there's anything we can learn about Jesus and His sacrifice for all mankind, it's that God has compassion for those who are unable to save themselves. And if we have been lavished with unconditional grace by God, how are we now to respond to those who need our compassion?

Social scientists today want to claim that the concept of social responsibility is something that man independently crafted on His own. But truth be told, just as God is the author of everything in this world, He is also the author of social responsibility. God's heart for social justice shows us His true character as being loving and gracious to everyone regardless of background, race or economic standing.

Here are seven scriptures on social justice that point to God's heart for the poor and oppressed and how we are to respond to God's heart by doing our part.

Romans 12:15-18 "Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." (Pexels)
Micah 6:8 "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Pixabay)
Zechariah 7:9-10 "Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart." (Pixabay)
Jeremiah 22:3 “Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.” (Pixabay)
Isaiah 1:17 "Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause." (Pixabay)
Proverbs 31:9 "Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy." (Pixabay)
Deuteronomy 15:7-8 "If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be."
