Marvel Comics has confirmed the release of their newest series featuring the X-Men's star-crossed lovers, Rogue and Gambit.

Announced at their panel at the New York Comic-Con 2017, the comic book giant said that the series will be released as early as January 2018. Although this power couple may seem new to the this generation of Marvel fans, Rogue and Gambit's love affair was first seen and followed in the 90's animated series "The Uncanny X-Men."

The only thing that fans have for now is the colored version for the cover art of the first issue. In the poster, Rouge is seen wearing a new green body suit while Gambit is still rocking his 90's ensemble. The comic book series will be written by Kelly Thompson ("Hawkeye"). Pere Perez ("Faith") is the artist for the title, while Kris Anka ("Captain Marvel") will provide the covers.

In the 90's show, Gambit has always expressed wanting to be with Rogue, who refuses him all the time fearing he might end up dead even if it was just a kiss. In the comics, during the events of the Legacy Virus, Rogue went rogue with Bobby Drake (Iceman). When the team needed her to come back, it was Gambit's pull that was the strongest – although Rogue never admitted this.

The two mutants have been re-invented over the years with the multiple universes that Marvel had. Yet, like Scott (Cyclops) and Jean, their love for each other was a constant in any comic universe.

Rogue's first comic book appearance was with the Avengers and was a member of the villain group Brotherhood of Mutants. Gambit joined the X-Men seven years after the release of the "Uncanny X-Men" series in the summer of 1990.

In recent comic book continuum, Rogue has been leading the Avengers Unity Squad in the "Uncanny Avengers" comic book series. Gambit, on the other hand, has been Laura's mentor in the "All-New Wolverine."
