WWE return rumors: Randy Orton's shoulder injury delays comeback, possibly to September

When will Randy Orton return to WWE? WWE.com

Randy Orton is booked for a WWE return, but the wrestling superstar will not begin his in-game training until his shoulder is completely healed.

According to a report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter picked up by Forbes, Orton should have already returned. However, due to the injury, he won't start training until next month.

Orton has undergone three surgeries to treat the shoulder injury from an October event (the injury marked his WWE hiatus) but the latest one, which was expected to fully restore him back to health, requires longer time for recovery.

Despite this, there is one image leak bouncing around regarding Orton's return to the ring on August 13 via the WWE show in Hidalgo, Texas.

His comeback was even teased as "The Return of the Viper." However, since the authenticity of the image is still in question, it is to be taken with a grain of salt for now.

Despite this, it is looking like Orton's WWE return is not happening anytime soon. This means that he won't also make it to the WWE Draft.

Forbes believes that WWE should not rush into bringing Orton back and that there are a lot of feuds to engage him in when he is ready to hit the ring again, including one with Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn.

Interestingly, there are reports that Orton can take on The Beast Incarnate himself, Brock Lesnar, for an epic comeback.

The latter's manager Paul Heyman has suggested how a match between "modern-day Brock Lesnar against modern-day Randy Orton" will be epic.

However, if that were to happen, it might take a while. If Orton is just going back to in-ring training next month (the training is presumed to last for weeks), his WWE return could fall in September.

That means that apart from missing out on the WWE Draft, he won't be able to be part of the WWE SummerSlam on Aug. 21.
