'Thor 3' update: Idris Elba wants out of Marvel

When Marvel wants to have a spoiler-blackout for their movies, that's when leaks and news appear left and right. With "Thor: Ragnarok" scheduled for release on 2017, someone leaked a very important surprise for the fans of the movie.

Idris Elba, who plays Heimdall in the previous "Thor" movies, made a shocking revelation about the teaser. Apparently, Elba said that Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) had shot a scene together for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and he suggested that this scene may just be a significant teaser on what's to come in "Ragnarok." Further, this scene is said to appear at the end credits of the second "Avengers" movie.

It can be recalled that Loki transformed into Odin when Thor returned to Asgard, and the Norse god of thunder talked to (who he thought was) his father about relinquishing his title as King of Asgard. Thor had no idea that it was Loki he was talking to. According to rumors, Scarlet Witch will use her powers to help Thor see what Loki did and what will happen to Asgard. Upon seeing it, Thor will leave Earth, go back to Asgard and save what he can of it.

Meanwhile, Elba' revelation wasn't taken well by director Joss Whedon, who directed "Avengers: Age of Ultron." In an interview with Vulture, he said that "should he receive an email from me, there might be an attitude of scold."

But why did Elba make such a revelation knowing that it could ruin the surprise for Marvel fans? Simple. He wants out of Marvel and he isn't afraid to say it. He described his role as Heimdall as "torture" and he didn't want to do it anymore, he just needed to.

Idris talked to The Telegraph and said, "It was really weird... I'd just done eight months in South Africa. I came to England and the day I came back I had to do reshoots on Thor 2."

"I'm actually falling down from a spaceship, so they had to put me in harness in this green-screen studio," he said. "And in between takes I was stuck there, fake hair stuck on to my head with glue, this f------ helmet, while they reset."

Elba explicitly explained, "And I'm thinking: '24 hours ago, I was Mandela'. When I walked into the set the extras called me Madiba. I was literally walking in this man's boots. [Within] six months, the crew, we were all so in love with this film we had made. I was him. I was Mandela, practically...Then there I was, in this stupid harness, with this wig and this sword and these contact lenses. It ripped my heart out.".

Marvel will definitely not like this statement from Idris. But along with this comes the rumor that Idris may play Green Lantern for DC Comics. Could that actually be a role Idris is interested in? It is a lead role after all.

"Thor: Ragnarok" hits theaters on July 28, 2017 and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be released on May 1, 2015.
