The new poster of "The Vampire Diaries" hints that Stefan and Elena will be back together next season, while poor Caroline is reported to be dead.

The latest "The Vampire Diaries" season 6 spoilers suggest that there will be new pairings next season. The new promotional poster of the sixth season of the hit TV show shows Stefan and Elena holding hands, which implies that the two will rekindle the romance that they once had.

Meanwhile, Caroline is shown splayed on the ground, and reports claim that she will exit the show next season. Stefan and Caroline shared an almost steamy kiss last season, but ended in a cuddle session. It can be imagined that the two will have a romantic connection.

Previous reports stated that Caroline will admit her romantic feelings toward Stefan, but he will dismiss this as he is in the midst of grieving and soul searching brought about the sudden disappearance of his brother. Elena will also struggle to get over the loss of her lover.

CW Network recently released the official synopsis of the show's premiere episode. The episode 1 is entitled "I'll Remember". The synopsis reads:

After spending the past four months coping with the loss of Damon in an unconventional and potentially dangerous way, Elena has returned to Whitmore College for the start of sophomore year. Unable to move on, Caroline is desperate to find a way to reverse the anti-magic spell the Travelers have put over Mystic Falls and grows frustrated when her calls to Stefan go unanswered."

Spoilers reveal that Elena is devastated after Damon disappeared to The Other Side with Bonnie after Project Kaboom. As a way to move on from the hurt and pain, Elena will go back to school and she will apply for an internship to be a doctor just like her parents.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 will be back on air on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. EST on CW Network.
