Playstation 4 midnight release at BestBuy, Gamestop, Walmart retailers: How to get limited Sony PS4 consoles tonight

The Playstation 4 will finally be launching at midnight tonight, with a number of BestBuy retail stores taking part in Sony's launch event.

BestBuy has released a list of stores that will be partaking in the midnight launch event. Click here to find out whether a BestBuy near you will be promoting the midnight launch.

Customers attending a midnight event to pick up a pre-order tonight must bring a government-issued photo ID, the credit/debit card used for purchase, and your order number.

The processing of pre-orders will begin 2 hours before midnight but consoles will only be handed out at precisely 12:01 a.m.

BestBuy has also provided information on how customers who haven't already pre-ordered a console can get one at tonight's launch. The retail store stated: "Our stores will have limited quantities available beyond the quantity that was pre-ordered. Tickets will be distributed up to 2 hours before midnight on a first-come, first-serve basis for any available quantities. Stores will know the number of available consoles and will be able to provide updates to customers as any lines may form. Limit one console per person."

Most BestBuy stores will have two lines – one for customers collecting their pre-orders, and one for customers waiting to purchase a console among limited quantities.

Aside from BestBuy, some Walmart and Gamestop stores will also be holding a PS4 midnight launch event.

Gamestop announced that most stores will be open from 6p.m. but advises customers to check their local store for opening times.

Transactions are finalized between 6p.m. to midnight and guests will be assigned a Guest # to hold a place in line for midnight. Guest # will be organized in order and customers line up accordingly to receive their PS4 purchases when midnight strikes.
