PC Advisor UK reported that the new Nvidia Shield Tablet 2 device will be released in August.

An earlier report by Techno Buffalo, on the other hand, suggested that the new Nvidia Shield Tablet device will be released a month earlier, possibly by late July, as the original Nvidia Shield Tablet was released around that same time, on July 29.

Reports say the original Nvidia Shield Tablet was one of the best Android gaming devices of 2014.

Like its predecessor, the new Nividia Shield Tablet 2 is expected to run on the Android operating system, but on the updated 5.1 Lollipop version. The new device is expected to pack Nvidia's latest Tegra X1 processor, which will offer better performance over its predecessor, according to PC Advisor UK, along with higher quality graphics for gamers.

The new Tegra X1 processor was just announced at this year's Consumer Electronics Show 2015 held in Las Vegas, and was also used on Nvidia's latest Shield Android TV device.

The original Nvidia Shield Tablet uses the Tegra K1 SoC processor and comes with an 8 inch display screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution, offering users the ability to output 4K resolution to TVs.

The new Nvidia Shield Tablet 2 will have a 5 mega pixel front and rear cameras along with two speakers on the front, according to a report. The device will have micro USB, microSD and mini HDMI ports on its side. Like the original device, the new Shield Tablet 2 will also come with an 8 inch display screen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, according to Latin Post.

The exact release date including the price of the new Nvidia Shield Tablet 2 device still remains unclear.
