Mandisa shares 'blessings' of being single

Mandisa shares the blessings of being single. Mandisa

American gospel and contemporary Christian artist Mandisa is looking at her life with rose-tinted glasses as she focuses on the blessings of being single.

A lot of people equate being single to loneliness, but not Mandisa. In fact, she even shared on her Facebook page some of the benefits of being single.

"There are some wonderful blessings associated with being single: Being able to commit my time and money to whatever ministries, organisations, or people I desire," she wrote.

The singer, who has struggled with weight issues in the past, even rejoiced in "the freedom of whisking away on last-minute trips on a whim; and most importantly, spending as much time with Jesus as I want!"

It seems like Mandisa is not in any rush to be in a romantic relationship since she also shared a quote about perfect timing. "There's a time for yes and a time for no, there's a time to be angry and a time to let it go, there's a time to run and a time to face it, there is love to see you, through all of this, He is with you," she wrote.

During the start of her singing career, Mandisa was often criticised because of her weight. While she was a contestant for American Idol, judge Simon Cowell would often poke fun of her size instead of focusing on her singing abilities.

Later, she confronted Cowell for his remarks, and he apologised.

"What I want to say to you is that, yes, you hurt me and I cried and it was painful, it really was. But I want you to know that I've forgiven you and that you don't need someone to apologise in order to forgive somebody. I figure that if Jesus could die so that all of my wrongs could be forgiven, I can certainly extend that same grace to you," she told him.

Now Mandisa describes herself as "a picture of health wrapped in a not-so-perfect tent." She has already lost over a hundred pounds since she first starred in American Idol.
