Kim Kardashian preeclampsia may have led to early birth; Kanye West desperate to marry her?

Reality star Kim Kardashian may have suffered from preeclampsia, a life-threatening condition for pregnant women, which forced her to give birth to her daughter 5 weeks early.

Kardashian gave birth to her first child with boyfriend Kanye West on June 15 in Los Angeles. The baby reportedly weighed "under five pounds" and was put in an incubator following her birth.

The 32-year-old had been showing signs of severe edema when her extremely swollen feet were photographed last month. Edema is one of the symptoms of preeclampsia, which is a condition that leads to rapid blood pressure in pregnant women that can lead to seizures, strokes, organ failure, or even death in mother and/or baby. The only cure for preeclampsia is to give birth.

There has been no confirmation on whether Kardashian suffered from preeclampsia.

Rumors state that West, 36, is "desperate" to marry Kardashian as soon as possible after the birth of their child. A source told People: "They'll start planning their next project, a wedding, sooner rather than later. He definitely wants to marry her, he hasn't left her side."

The new mother's longtime friend Robin Antin told People: "This was a lot to go through. I'm sure she was exhausted but she handled it like a pro."

Although the birth is over, Kardashian will need to watch her blood pressure in case she develops hypertension, according to Us Weekly. "After discharge she should follow up with blood pressure checks," a source told Us. "The condition can cause problems after birth."
