The rumored Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album will allegedly be delayed, according to reports. New music from two of the most popular rappers of today is expected to be out this month but there seem to be no sign of that happening.

This begs the question of whether or not the dream collaboration is actually a thing. According to DJ Booth, the biggest hurdle for the album, which is allegedly titled "Reminiscing," is the incompatible styles of the artists.

Lamar is known for his deep, meaningful lyrics with his songs having underlying meanings to the letter. J. Cole, on the other hand, sings all about life – its complications and its reality. He uses simple lyrics to convey his message.

If Lamar and J. Cole are to cook up one album together, it will allegedly most likely be musically lopsided, with one style more evident than the other. Considering their polar styles, it might also take time to make their music jive seamlessly.

Back in 2013, Cole told MTV that the joint project, which he admitted was difficult to make happen with him and Lamar coming from different labels, made them "mad competitive" although this rivalry is friendly. "It's pride. You have pride in your craft and what you do, but to a certain extent," he went on to say.

According to rumors, Lamar and J. Cole began working on the new album back in 2011. The buzz started when the two were photographed together in a studio, allegedly working on a surprise album.

The hype grew bigger when the "How Much a Dollar Cost" singer told LA Leakers in 2012 (via The Bitbag) that he has something big in store for fans. "We gonna drop that out the sky, I ain't gonna give no dates, no nothing. I'm just gonna let it fall," Lamar said.

At the moment, the Lamar and J. Cole album is expected to drop this month, if things go well. For now, fans can follow Lamar at the Grammy Awards, where he is nominated in 11 categories. J. Cole, on the other hand, recently received platinum certifications for his albums.
