Ubisoft recently revealed the development of "Far Cry Primal," the latest spin-off video game from the first person shooter series early this month.

According to the game development studio, the events in the new game will be set in 10,000 BC, during the time when gigantic beasts such as woolly mammoths and sabertooth tiger freely roamed the Earth.

Based on Ubisoft's description of the upcoming game, the players will take the role of the hunter named Takkar who is stranded in the valley called Oros, formerly covered in ice. Though he is not equipped with any weapons or other supplies after his hunting group was ambushed, he will eventually rise to power and become the leader of his own tribe. Players will have to survive fighting alone in the Stone Age wilderness in order to succeed in the game.

According to Ubisoft creative director Jean-Christophe Guyot, "The Stone Age is the perfect setting for a Far Cry game."

"Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it's the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself," Guyot added.

Players will have to face different pre-historic creatures like mammoths, saber-tooth tigers, elks, rhinoceros, and ancient predecessors of present-day bears, wolves, eagles, and large owls.

A trailer was also released by Ubisoft during the game announcement, showing how a player defeats a woolly mammoth with the use of spears and arrows together with a group of other hunters until a humongous saber-tooth tiger attacks the group. Then the player is seen all alone, while the rival tribesmen attack him in a thick forest.

"Fry Cry Primal" will come out in PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Feb. 23, 2016 while the PC edition will be released in March next year.
