Cyrille Regis played 5 times for England in the early 1980’s, including one memorable match against West Germany.

Yes it was my 2nd cap, Bobby Robson became the manager, and he put me in the line-up against West Germany, against Karl Heinz Rummenigge, and a Germany side who’ve played and won the cup in ’82. A fantastic experience, I had 80 minutes on there; was fantastic.

But for Cyril more important than playing for England or even winning the 1987 FA cup with Coventry city is his faith in Jesus Christ.

There’s no comparison, having someone die for you, and tell you how much they love you. Knowing that Christ paid the price that I should have paid, tells the comparison. I mean one thing when you do come to the lord, you get your life in perspective, and the first and most-thing, is my relationship with God. So in fact, it releases you to enjoy football and to view life in a right perspective.
