Chris Brown, Rihanna news: Singer sings Rihanna's song; says he has 'nothing but love and respect' for ex

Although they have already parted ways, singer Chris Brown said that he has nothing but love for his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. The two had an on-off relationship that ended after he reportedly assaulted her six years ago before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

At a recent concert during his world tour, the "Ayo" singer surprised his fans when he belted out a Rihanna song. According to OK!, the singer started to sing along to her song "BBHMM" before telling fans that Rihanna was "my [expletive] for life."

In an interview with British radio host Tim Westwood, Brown answered questions as to why he chose to sing his ex-girlfriend's song.

"She's my homie though. We knew each other since we were 14, 15 so with that kind of history, we are always going to be cool," he said. He added that he doesn't get jealous or mad at her but has "nothing but love and respect for her."

Apart from his personal feelings toward the 27-year-old singer, Brown said that he respects her as an artist. He said that he expected people to be surprised that he was playing Rihanna's music at his concert, "but who doesn't? I'm sure she plays my music."

Although the two haven't spoken in recent months, Rihanna reportedly watched him rehearse at the BET Awards and was seen singing along to Brown's performance of "Post to Be." Last year, they had an awkward encounter at a charity basketball event in New York. It was reported that Brown — who was playing in the charity event — tried to get Rihanna's attention but she ignored him.

Rihanna's father, Robert Fenty, was also at the game and told the Daily Mail in an interview last December what happened. Fenty said that at the game, the two just said "hi and hello" to each other, and when he and his daughter were going to the car park, Brown attempted to talk to her but she turned and talked to someone else.

"So he came and talked to me and I had a picture with him," said Fenty.

Although in the past, he said that he would be happy for them to get back together, Fenty told the Daily Mail that he thinks Brown isn't ready for a serious relationship right now.

"Chris is a player, he ain't ready for no one woman yet," said Fenty.

Earlier this year, Karrueche Tran, Brown's on-off girlfriend of four years, broke things off with the singer after news broke that Brown is a father to a baby girl named Royalty. Since their breakup, Brown has not been linked to anyone else.
