'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Penny and Leonard to tie the knot in premiere

"The Big Bang Theory" is about to begin its ninth season, with a big episode featuring Penny and Leonard's wedding. In the season 8 finale, the pair decided to go to Las Vegas after they got tired of choosing the perfect date for their nuptials.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Steve Molaro confirmed that the couple will get married in the upcoming season's premiere, but "that's really only the beginning of the story. As fun and as great as it is to see them married, that's only part of it."

It can be recalled that on their way to Las Vegas, Leonard admitted that he kissed another woman while he was on a North Sea expedition. However, it appears that their wedding is still on as new photos shared by CBS to the website shows the pair dressed in what looks to be their chosen attire for their nuptials. The couple is seen sitting on a bed, and Penny is wearing a pink dress while Leonard is dressed in grey slacks, a white shirt, and a tie, and his jacket is on the bed. The two appear to be discussing something serious, and Leonard looks like he's trying to explain something. It is unclear whether the pictured scene is taken before or after their wedding.

According to Molaro, the season 9 nuptials couldn't be timed better, saying that after nine years, they intend to keep Leonard and Penny's story moving forward.

"I think this is a great way to do it," said Molaro about the pair's wedding.

Other pictures on the website show more scenes including the whole gang. And while the premiere will be all about Penny and Leonard, it looks like Sheldon and Amy will also be seen as they try to cope with their breakup, which took place in the season 8 finale. Amy is shown getting comforted by the group, and another shot shows Amy and Sheldon talking in the hallway.

Season 9 of "The Big Bang Theory" premieres on Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
