Android Nougat release date: will we see full version of Android 7 next month?

Google has officially named its upcoming platform Android Nougat. With this, rumors say that the full version is likely to be released anytime soon.

According to KnowYourMobile, in the roadmap laid out by Google previously, the final build version for Android N is listed to come out by this month, so an August release for the full version is likely possible. However, Google has yet to confirm if the roadmap is still on track at this point. Previous speculations point out a "late summer 2016" release for the new platform.

Meanwhile, the full version of Android Nougat is also likely connected to the release of the new Nexus 2016 iterations. Since the series is part of the Google lineup, it is possible that the tech giant is thinking of launching the new firmware and hardware products at a single event, making the Nexus 2016 devices the launching vehicles for the new Android platform. This is the most likely scenario, since Google always releases its major Android updates first for its Nexus lineups. After the Nexus lineups get the new Android N, tech manufacturers and mobile carriers will build their own version with build-specific layers, usually company bloatware. One of the tech companies that have already committed to an early update to Android Nougat is HTC, for its current flagships like the HTC 10, One A9, and One M9.

Google has yet to confirm the release for the new Nexus, though speculations have already circulated online that HTC will be a co-maker to at least two new Nexus smartphone flagships, deemed to be the follow-ups to the Nexus 5X and 6P. There are also rumors that Google may be thinking of refreshing the Nexus 7 tablet, either to be made again by Asus, or a new take by Huawei.
