Latest reports claim that Samsung will jump to the 5.0.2 version of the Android Lollipop OS in updating the Galaxy Note 4.

SamMobile shared an alleged photo of the Note 4 running with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS, although it doesn't show much difference with previous Galaxy Notes running with Android KitKat. However, one of the noticeable features of the handset is its notification tray that appears on the lock screen. Moreover, the stock applications were updated to fit the Material Design UI style.

It is only natural for the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge to be updated to the latest mobile firmware. The only thing left is Samsung's confirmation and official release date. Some people think that since the Note 4 and the Note Edge share almost the same specifications, they will receive the Android update at the same time. Still, others think that updating two devices at once will be hard for Samsung.

Similar to other updates, the South Korean tech firm will roll out the update slowly and in phases since it has to work on a lot of versions and countries. It may take months before all of the devices get the update.

In addition, Samsung follows a progressive rollout wherein it updates devices in phases to garner more logs and tweaks. It then rolls it out to the next batch of devices and repeats the same process. This means that the last batch may get a different Android update from the first wave.

Samsung has not confirmed whether it will settle for the Android 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 versions that are currently being rolled out to other smartphones. It is normal for Samsung to jump a version or two when updating its devices since it has a track record of rolling out Android updates way behind other Android-based manufacturers like LG, Sony, and HTC.

The latest flavor of Android is receiving criticisms because of the bugs and issues, so speculators think that Samsung might wait for a more stable version.
