Aled Jones and The Unthanks added to cathedrals music programme
The Unthanks are a folk music band from Tyneside who have been described by The Guardian as “haunting, original and magnificent”.
They will be joined by Brighouse and Rastrick Brass, with whom they have collaborated, for their set at the cathedral on 17 August.
The performance will include new music from their upcoming album.
National treasure and treble vocalist Aled Jones will lead an evening of music on 12 October.
Aled has worked on no less than 29 albums during his 25-year music career and has been a presenter on ‘Songs of Praise’ for more than a decade.
He will be performing at York Minster as part of his first ever UK-wide cathedral tour. Aled started out as a boy chorister in Bangor so he will feel right at home in a cathedral setting.
The performances will all be held in the cathedral’s stunning nave as part of York Minster’s 8 Wonders season spotlighting international artists, talented local musicians and composers.
