"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." – 1 John 4:4

Many Christians are afraid of the devil, as if he's this unstoppable and godlike being. While he is indeed powerful and cunning, the truth is that we as Christians are in a better position than him. He's destined for hell, but we're destined for heaven because of Christ.

I know that this might sound unbelievable or perhaps too "arrogant" for some, but the truth is that as children of God, we have no reason to fear the devil. We have no reason to cower when he's around. We simply have to know who we are in Christ. If we know it, we'll understand that the devil isn't scary anymore.

Don't get me wrong: I've always feared the devil myself—but that was before I found out who I am in Christ. Yes, as a human being the occasional fear strikes me, and the more frequent worries and anxieties affect me. But when I regain my senses and remember how God loves me, how Christ freed me, and how the Holy Spirit empowers me, I then feel the fear go away.

It's all because of God who loves me.

Do you want to have that courage to stand up fearlessly against the devil? Here are some biblical truths you need to know.

1. If You're in Christ, God Is Your Father

"He predestined us to adoption as sons to Himself through Jesus Christ according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace which He graciously bestowed on us in the Beloved." (Ephesians 1:5-6)

God, who has all power over all including the devil, is our very Father if we are in Christ. He who has thrown Lucifer out of heaven and has destined him for eternal fire wanted to become your loving Father. Talk about contrasts!

2. You Now Belong to Christ, and the Devil Has No Control Over You

"For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins." (Colossians 1:13-14)

Friend, if you're in Christ, you're not in the devil's turf anymore. He has no right to demand anything from you, not even your attention. Christ has defeated him, and you don't have to give in to anything he asks you or forces you to do.

You're in Christ already. He's the only one who deserves your attention, fear, and respect.

3. God, Who Is More Powerful Than the Devil, Lives in You

"Don't you realise that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?" (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Why fear the devil when you have God living inside of you? After Christ saved us, He sent us the Holy Spirit to live in us and never leave us alone. He is God Himself, the third person of the Godhead. He is far more powerful than the devil who can only scare you.
