Xiaomi Redmi 4 release date, specs: Device to launch with Mi Note 2?

The Redmi 3, the predecessor to the upcoming Redmi 4 Xiaomi website

Previously, it was expected that Xiaomi will launch the new Redmi additions together. However, only the Redmi Note 4 surfaced recently. Speculations suggest that the other Redmi iteration, the Redmi 4, may debut together with the new flagship Mi Note 2.

Reports out of China have mentioned that the much-awaited Redmi 4 has appeared at Chinese certification site TENAA. While a specific release has not been mentioned, it is possible that the new mid-range Redmi addition will come out soon, and possibly together with the new Xiaomi flagship, the Mi Note 2.

While Xiaomi has yet to comfirm the rumored dual-launch, having the two debut together is highly possible, covering both end of Xiaomi's lineup spectrum. The Mi Note 2 is the tech maker's next flagship. Meanwhile, the Redmi 4 is the upcoming entry-level addition to the Redmi series. According to the TENAA listing, the Redmi 4 is carrying a 1.8 GHz processor, said to be a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset. The processor is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. It also features a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution. Other listed specs include a 13MP main camera, an 8MP selfie shooter, and 4,100 mAh battery. Meanwhile, although a likely late 2016 release, the Redmi 4 will still come out with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.

As to when fans can expect the new Redmi iteration, it may be any time soon, particularly if the Redmi 4 will launch together with the Mi Note 2. Speculations suggest that the new Xiaomi flagship will be unveiled this month, though there are conflicting schedules to date. According to Gadgets by NDTV, some supposed teasers place the debut to be on Sept. 14, while other followers agree on Sept. 24. Whichever the case, debut will add at least two iterations to the Xiaomi lineup, which has just recently released the Redmi Note 4.
