China-based tech maker Xiaomi is tipped to add a new iteration for its Redmi lineup. Reportedly, the new Redmi 4 will launch soon and will feature major improvements over its predecessors.

GSM Arena mentions that leaks out of China have captured early live images of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 4. Based on the supposed press leaks, it is believed that the Redmi series has undergone an improvement in design, as the supposed Redmi 4 shows similarities to the mid-ranger Redmi Note 3 than the base model body of its predecessor.

Some of the supposed leaked images also point out specs details on the rumored Xiaomi Redmi 4. Reportedly, the upcoming iteration will have two versions, a base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, and a higher version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB memory. Both versions will supposedly run on an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset. In addition, although the iteration will come out later in the year, it will still run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that instead of the base Redmi 4 model, Xiaomi will instead launch an above-average Redmi Note 4 iteration. Supposedly, the new Redmi Note lineup will debut as early as next week. According to Phone Arena, a supposed teaser from the China-based tech maker has surfaced online, detailing an August 25 unveiling for the Redmi Note 4.

Almost all of the specs for the supposed Redmi 4 are similar, save some details. Instead of the smaller 5.0-inch Redmi 4 rumor, the Redmi Note 4 is supposed to sport a 5.5.-inch display. The new above-average handset is also reportedly powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 chipset, with 2GB/16GB and  3GB/64GB RAM and storage variants. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back.
