Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro with fingerprint scanner, 3GB RAM unveiled

Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi 3 Pro, the higher variant of its base model, with a fingerprint scanner and 3GB of RAM.

According to Phone Arena, while the newly launched iteration dons the "Pro" tag, not much has been changed outside of the fingerprint scanner feature and bigger RAM capacity. Under the hood, the new Redmi 3 Pro shares the same internals as the Redmi 3 base model.

The Redmi 3 Pro also sports the same Snapdragon 616 processor, but paired with 3GB of RAM this time (compared to Redmi 3's 2GB one). Meanwhile, it also has the same 5-inch 720 display, the 13MP main camera and 5MP selfie camera setup, and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. In addition, the new Pro version also came out with Android Lollipop right out of the box and has the same 4,100 mAh battery as its base model.

Being considered a higher-specced model than the original version, the Redmi 3 Pro also offers dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, WiFi, and microUSB 2.0 connectivity.

According to Android Authority, when the Redmi 3 Pro goes on sale on April 4, it will be one of the few iterations offering a fingerprint sensor but with a price tag of as low as $120. In addition, while not being top-tier iteration, its above-average specs make the Redmi 3 Pro good enough a backup handset.

The Redmi 3 Pro goes on sale on April 4 as part of Xiaomi's Mi Fan Festival. In addition to the new Redmi 3 Pro, other iterations are also expected to appear, and it is suggested that Xiaomi may even reveal a global release of another Pro device, the Mi 5 Pro.
