Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specs, design, release date rumors: Xiaomi to out new Mi Note follow-up with curved display?

Xiaomi has just released its newest flagship, the Mi 5. But it seems that the China-based tech giant will be implementing an annual two-flagship roll-out much like its competitors as it is rumored that the company is now developing a follow-up in its Mi Note series. It is also said that the upcoming Mi Note 2 will be a redesigned one and will have a curved display.

According to BGR, the upcoming Mi Note 2 will be thought of as a Samsung Galaxy Edge at first glance, considering that Xiaomi plans to use Samsung-sourced curved AMOLED display for its upcoming Mi Note iteration. Most likely, Xiaomi will be using the curved Samsung Display screens that the South Korea-based tech giant used in its Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge.

Curved displays seem also to be the trend for other China-based smartphone manufacturers, as Samsung-backed Samsung Display is also reportedly seeking to supply OEMs with their curved screens. The industry follower added that reports out of China mentioned that aside from Xiaomi, Huawei and Vivo are also queuing for curved screens from Samsung Display. Vivo, for example, will most likely expand their curved screen flagships as the company recently released its Xplay5 featuring an Edge-like display, a 5.43-inch dual-curved Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution.

Meanwhile, GSM Arena reports that for Huawei, the company may be looking to feature a curved Samsung Display for its upcoming flagship. However, the industry follower surmised that a curved display will be plausible for a new Mate iteration, rather than the reported next company flagship, the Huawei P9. The former may still be in the development stages, while the latter is already scheduled for unveiling next month.

As for the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, no confirmed specs are yet available. Seeing as it will be a flagship iterations, fans may expect at least a 5.7-inch display much like its predecessor, as well as a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM.
