Previously, it was said that Xiaomi's new concept phone, the Mi MIX, will have a smaller variant called the Nano. However, the tech maker has categorically denied that there will be an upcoming addition.
According to GizChina, a post on China-based social media site Weibo has clarified the rumors about the Xiaomi Mi MIX Nano. Supposedly, Xiaomi's marketing director, Zang Zhiyuan, posted that "there's no such product as Xiaomi Mi Mix Nano". However, the post has since been deleted.
Meanwhile, the industry follower believes that the statement has yet to be made official, even if it was made by someone inside the company. Some observers say that the statement itself is ambiguous. While it may be true that there is no Mi MIX Nano, it is possible that the Xiaomi executive is pertaining to the name, meaning that the tech maker will still release a smaller version under a different name. In addition, having a smaller variant for the concept is already expected as Xiaomi will likely make the Mi MIX a full lineup given the success of its initial release.
The rumors for the Mi MIX Nano stemmed from previous supposed leaks that showcase a 5.5-inch variant of the concept phone. This is a massive cut-down from the original 6.4-inch screen of the Xiaomi Mi MIX. However, the speculations suggest that the Nano is just a smaller version of the concept phone and not a watered-down variant. This means that aside from the dimensions, much of the specs and features for the smaller version will be similar to the original 6.4-inch phablet.
The original Xiaomi Mi MIX launched with the new Snapdragon 821 processor paired with a 4-GB RAM for its base version, while a step-up variant has 6 GB of RAM. There are also 128- and 256-GB options for its onboard storage. Meanwhile, its signature feature is the near bezel-less display, giving the Mi MIX Nano as much as 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.
