Microsoft continues to update its roster of backwards-compatible games for the Xbox One as at least five new titles were added at the start of the month.
The latest additions to the backwards compatibility list for the Xbox One are the 2D brawler "Shank 2" and the shooter RPG sequel "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon."
Developed by Klei and published by Electronic Arts, "Shank 2" is the sequel to the hack-and-slash 2D scroller title. Launched in 2012, it tells the story of an ex-mob hitman, Shank, who once again goes into the offensive against enemies, using a variety of weapons like machete, grenades, and an arsenal of guns. Players who already purchased the game digitally for the Xbox 360 will find the title automatically on their Xbox One digital games list. It is interesting to note though, that the sequel has already been added to the list but the original game, "Shank" released in 2010 is not in the catalog.
Meanwhile, "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" is a cyber shooter from Ubisoft, and continues the story of Sergeant Rex Colt in an alternate cyber future.
Aside from the two new titles, Microsoft has added three new games to the catalog earlier this month – "New Rally X," "NIN2-Jump," and "Mr. Driller Online."
The games list now has over 200 titles on it, though Microsoft promises to add more games to the roster. Just recently, it is hinted that another Xbox 360 Classic, "Blue Dragon," is on its way to the backwards compatibility list soon.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that another triple-A title is also on its way, the popular Activision shooter "Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare." Though Microsoft has yet to confirm the rumor, having another "Call of Duty" title is highly possible, given that other games from the franchise are already on the list, like the original "Call of Duty: Black Ops". In addition, other major games from various franchises are already on the games roster, such as "Fallout: New Vegas" and "Halo Wars."
