'WWE SummerSlam' rumors: Brock Lesnar, John Cena match-ups expected

 WWE

The next "WWE SummerSlam" is already confirmed, although the matchups for the event are yet to be determined. Speculations suggest that Brock Lesnar and John Cena will headline this year's anticipated wrestling event.

According to Yibada, fan matchups and wish lists have placed Borck Lesnar to be in one of the matches at the upcoming event. In addition, the WWE superstar will be pitted against none other than Bray Wyatt. Apparently, there is an ongoing feud between the two, and fans had been waiting for the two to be at each other's throats as early as "WrestleMania 32." However, the superstars were matched against different opponents, with Wyatt being tag-teamed by The Rock and John Cena, while Brock Lesnar came out on top in his battle against Dean Ambrose.

Meanwhile, WhatCulture surmises that in terms of exciting matchups, Lesnar will best be suited against AJ Styles. Although the two share the same distinction as former IWGP Heavyweight Champions, their different styles – Lesnar with his suplexes and dominant assaults, and Styles with risk-heavy offense moves – are expected to make an interesting match.

Other superstars are also expected to make their appearances. For fan-favorite John Cena, dream matchups include the monster of a man Samoa Joe. This may be one of the most awaited matchups for the event, since the two have a history of fighting together in the Ultimate Pro Wrestling promotion in California back in 2000.

There are other anticipated matchups and grudge matches, too, such as a three-way deadlock between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship title, and a Women's Championship match between Sasha Banks and Bayley.

The "WWE SummerSlam" 2016 is scheduled for August 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
