Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) champion and current face John Cena has been known to do the impossible, particularly in the area of recovering from an injury. But can he pull off a Houdini act and make it to WrestleMania 32?
Everyone has heard that Cena has been widely tagged as the Undertaker's opponent for the coming WWE spectacle until he suffered an untimely torn rotator cuff early this year.
The Cenation leader had to undergo surgery to repair the shoulder and the normal recovery period shows Cena unlikely making it to the upcoming WWE pay-per-view.
However, Cena is no ordinary mortal. He has done it before and his recent Twitter posts have been taken by most as a bright sign that he may make it to WrestleMania 32 after all.
While seeing Cena pump iron and whip himself back in shape is grand, the posts could be nothing more than to show that the former WWE champion is back in the gym to prepare for a return at some point. It may not necessarily be at WrestleMania 32, but hope floats for the WWE Universe to ensure a slam-bang extravaganza.
At 38 years old, Cena is no longer the young guy who can count on injuries to heal fast. An untimely return could either lead to another surgery or perhaps a career-ending one which has been seen in athletes who rushed their return to action.
For the WWE, it will not be surprising if they employ the same measures on the recent concussion issue involving the now retired Daniel Bryan. The bearded one gained clearance and yet, the WWE held him back and for good reason.
Cena is a different case and while his presence could be a big boost, the WWE will need to look long-term. Everyone wants to see that Undertaker vs. John Cena match, but perhaps not at the risk of permanently seeing the WWE star in the sidelines moving forward.
